I’m at the Chapter 4 block. I tried. I really did.
I had this great plan to get the second draft of Chapter 4 knocked out today….and instead, I stared at my computer screen, wondering what the heck I was supposed to be writing. It doesn’t help that Chapter 3 still isn’t where I’d like it to be. I know it could be better….I just don’t know HOW it could be better.
And, you want to know something really scary?
This happens to me with almost every story. I get to Chapter 3 and then *wham*…my muse conspires to rip the story out of my grasp, causing Chapters 3 and 4 to usually be a mess until I beat my head on the keyboard thousands of times.
So, nope, Chapter 4 didn’t get done today, probably because I re-wrote some things in Chapter 3, which turned Chapter 4 obsolete, because the things that were supposed to happen in Chapter 3, didn’t happen.
Okay, deep breath.
Tomorrow’s another day.

Exactly, tomorrow is another day! I hope you’ll write a
great Chap 4! To be honest, it happens to me sometimes. I
take a quick start, and then things start, um, slowing down.
Best of luck with your chaps!

It happens to me, too
I usually get a little further (chapter 7 or 8), but that doesn’t make it any easier to untangle. Tomorrow is another day!

happens to me to!
Have you tried jumping ahead? The end, or a sex scene, or kill someone off… some big moment in the book. Usually helps get my juices flowing again if I’m stuck on one part to jump around and write a scene that I can see more clearly.
Good luck!

Take heart. Once the opening is finished, the next chapter is usually a lot longer in coming. I don’t have a particular chapter that kills me, but it does happen.
You’re right…tomorrow’s another day. And your wonderful talent will bring this chapters around.
