Most children LOVE pizza. Not so, my boys. Daredevil will eat it…usually only about one small piece, but Science Boy would rather scrub the toilet with a toothbrush (oh, wait, he probably WOULD get way too much enjoyment out of that one.
LOL!) and actually has refused to even try it because he claims it “looks yucky”.
I don’t know if every school has this program, but at my boys school they have a Book-It program where each month they read 11 books (or in Science Boy’s case, since he’s older, he sets a goal in minutes for each month). If they meet their goal, they get a coupon from Pizza Hut for a free personal pan pizza.
Daredevil earned his and then basically refused to let the thing out of his sight until we went to Pizza Hut, where he had to order it by himself and order it first. (both of these were strongly stressed.) The other day, Science Boy earned his from October and decided that he wanted to go and that he was actually going to try a cheese pizza.
Except, once we ordered it and the pizza was in front of him, he went into meltdown mode, saying “he couldn’t do it”. Couldn’t pick it up on his fork. Couldn’t stick it in his mouth. Nada. You’d think we were torturing our child by the way he was acting. It was insane.
I did finally manage to get him to try one bite, which he chewed a couple of times and then promptly spit out, declaring it “yucky”.
If this is how he acts with something as yummy as pizza, I’d hate to see the reaction if I tried to feed him brussel sprouts.
