Five Writing Strengths
I’m going to steal this meme from my good friend Farrah, because I’m too lazy to come up with my own blog post today.
What are my five writing strengths? Oh, jeez, maybe I should have come up with my own blog post today….I have a feeling this is going to be difficult. LOL.
1. I write good action scenes. I used to think I sucked at writing action sequences. In fact, it’s why I resisted writing a romantic suspense for so long, even though it is my absolute favorite genre to read. But, once I started Her Own Best Enemy I received feedback from CP’s and contest judges that complimented me on my nice, tight, action writing. Just goes to show you that sometimes you are blind to your strengths!
2. Writing with emotion. At least, I think this is one of my strengths because I love writing the poignant, emotional scene with lots of angst and drama.
3. I love to read. This one could be both a strength and a weakness. I am definitely up on what’s currently hot in the book market, but sometimes, my love of reading takes me away from my own writing, which could be a bad thing. I have to learn a bit more discipline.
4. Hooks. I’ve really learned how to end my chapters on strong hooks that will, hopefully, compel readers to keep reading well into the wee hours of the night.
5. I love telling stories. I love coming up with characters and putting them in precarious situations. I love pitting hero and heroine against each other and watching them fall in love. And, mostly, I love being the one to orchestrate their story–to bring it to life in a way that evokes emotion from readers. I love writing. Period.
