My Deadly Writing Sin
Actually, it’s more of an equal opportunity sin, invading every part of my life. Yep, I’m talking about PROCRASTINATION.
It goes something like this:
I should organize my office…
But, let me check email first.
I should vacuum…
But, I haven’t visited my favorite sites today.
I should work on my WIP…
But, that movie is calling my name.
I could go on and on, but you get the picture. It’s not a productive way to run my life, and frankly, the lure of procrastination is beginning to wear out its welcome. So, I’m making a vow–I’m SHOUTING it from my blog–I WILL PROCRASTINATE NO LONGER. From this day forward, let it be known that procrastination will no longer be a welcome visitor in my household. I will divide and conquer this bad habit.
But, first, let me just check my email one last time… ;-)
New Year, New Goals
It’s 2009 and I’m trying to look at it as a clean slate–a chance to take the things I’ve learned about my writing during 2008 and apply them to a new work-in-progress.
I’m so excited about this new book (even though my heroine is once again proving difficult to get to know. Grr!). Over at Romance Divas I’ve signed up for the JaNoWriMo challenge and have pledged to write 5 pages a day for the next 30 days. My goal is to have this book done by May and I’m really going to try to just belch out a first draft without stressing over word choices or tinkering with phrases. I’m sure you’ll read my whining from time to time!
As far as INTRUSION goes, I still have some submissions circulating to agents and will probably continue to query it here and there. But, right now the best way for me to take my mind off the submissions is to immerse myself in this new book.
I fell a page short of my 5 page goal today, but I’m hoping to make it up tomorrow!
