I love the line “the absence of fuel, burning rubber and engine grease almost made him want to drop to his knees and cry like a newborn babe.”
This sounds like a unique story. I hope you get back around to it. I know what you mean, your brain taking off into a completely different genre. I started with historical romance and ended up writing and completing a YA para.
