    Christmas came early!

    Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

Yesterday, my husband presented me with a shiny new Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop! I love you sweetie! *smooch*

I’ve been wanting a laptop for a while now, since there are times when either my children are bugging me to use our desktop computer or I’m stuck somewhere with nothing to do (and lament that I could be using my time wisely by writing).

My husband is so bad at keeping surprises, though, so instead of hiding it from me until Christmas, he decided to just go ahead and give it to me early. Not that I’m complaining, because I get to start using it a month early!

I’m so excited–I just want to stare at it all day long.

Of course, you know what this means. If I’m not super productive, I’ll never hear the end of it. So, I’d better write, write, write……and a publishing contract in 2006 wouldn’t hurt either.

    Oh, Snap!

    Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005

We saw Chicken Little over the weekend. Cute movie, though not one of my favorite Disney flicks. Poor Chicken Little got picked on by everyone–children, adults–even his Dad was not very supportive. But, I liked how he had the “Every day is a new day” attitude.

“Every day is a new day!”

That’s kind of what I need to keep in mind with my writing. Some days may be bad, but there’s always the possiblity of good things happening. I’m doing the final tweaking on my first chapter of HER OWN BEST ENEMY so that I can submit it to the Romance Divas We All Win Contest. Luckily, the deadline was pushed back until Dec. 1st, so I have a little longer to play with it.

    Interruptions Anonymous

    Thursday, November 17th, 2005

For the first time in close to a month I actually made progress on my WIP. No thanks to my two boys who just would not stop interrupting me every five minutes. They are addicted to interruptions. I’m serious. First it was my youngest’s chatter about his lego dragonfly creations and the need for a dragonfly house. Later it was both boys who thought up something new to bug me about every 60 seconds.

But, I prevailed and finished the edits on chapter 1! Yahoo! I’m afraid it sucks….though hopefully I’ll get a couple opinions on it before I send it on to Romance Divas for their Best Opening Scene contest.

    I Know What You’re Doing!

    Wednesday, November 16th, 2005

((Okay, I know I’ve been terrible about keeping my blog updated. I’m going to try to do better. Even if I just post something mundane and completely dumb!))

    So…

Yesterday I’m eating lunch with my two boys. My youngest polishes off his sandwich and moves on to the chips. My oldest eats half and then gives me ‘The look’.

“Um…I think I’m done,” he says.

I frown. “Hmm..Why don’t you take two more bites and then you can be done.”

So, he takes exactly two bites — not too small, not too big — and puts the rest of the sandwich down. He jabbers on for a few minutes and when there is a lull in the conversation I say, “Why don’t you take two more bites?”

He narrows his eyes, one of his eyebrows arches up and he says, “I know what you’re doing.”

    Me, all innocence, “What?”

“You’re trying to trick me into eating my entire sandwich. And I’m not going to do it. ”

Grr…I can’t even pull things over on my six year old. Isn’t that pathetic?

    Blog Bore

    Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

Yep, that’s what I am. I have absolutely nothing interesting to blog about. The holidays are coming way too quickly, my first chapter of HER OWN BEST ENEMY is a mess and it needs some serious work if I want to have it presentable enough to enter the Romance Divas “Best Opening Scene” contest, and my motivation is next to nil.

But I will prevail! I will not let the de-motivation bug beat me.

Off to pretend that I know what I’m doing with my story …

    Sitting in a Tree

    Friday, November 4th, 2005

Please forgive my lack of blogging! My youngest was sick on Sunday with a nasty stomach virus, by Monday he was fine, but then on Tuesday, both myself and my husband ended up with it…and spent the day flipping the coin for the bathroom. ;)

I’m finally feeling completely better, thank God, and thought I’d take a quick moment to add a post to my sorely neglected blog.

Today my 6 year old has a friend visiting. I picked them up from school, and as we’re driving home, his friend says, “We’re both in love with a girl.” He told me the girl’s name, which I already knew, since my son had let it slip last year when he was in kindergarten that he loved this girl named Caroline.

Apparently, another one of their friends is also ‘in love’ with her….seems she’s quite the popular first grader. They then proceeded to argue over who was going to marry her….my son’s friend proclaiming that they would have to fight for her. LOL.

O-kay….should I be worried? I thought I’d have at least another six years before my son started going ga-ga over girls.

    Someone just kill me now.
