Okay, this is just weird.
I’ve always done my writing in Courier New font, because I figured that was standard for submitting a manuscript and this way I could judge where my word count is going and such. I’m the kind of person that has to set my margins up and format my document before I even start writing a draft. I even have to break for chapters. It’s part of the reason why I don’t think I’d ever do well with an Alphasmart.
This week, I dove into a new project (as part of an unofficial NaNoWriMo) to take my mind of of Her Own Best Enemy for a while, because the difficulty I’ve been having with the ending had me seriously freaked out. I formatted the document as usual, but decided to “walk on the wild side”, LOL, and write the document in Times New Roman instead of Courier New.
Well, you know what? For some strange, miraculous, reason, it seems to make my writing flow better. I know, I know. Scoff all you want, but it does. This afternoon, I opened HOBE, cut the chapter out of the ms, pasted into a new document and changed the font to Times New Roman. And, oh, my, it’s actually flowing and meshing and….and making sense! *insert happy dance here*
I have high hopes that I’ll finish this extremely pivotal chapter this afternoon and be ready to go onto the next one tomorrow! Oh, yeah, bring it on! I am on the quest for the Holy Grail (otherwise known as finishing this book!).
